The oil and gas service industry is huge in terms of the number of different services that take place and the volumes of data that are acquired while performing the services. Data can take the form as process data such as pressures, temperatures, and flow rates. Data can also be in the form of time sheets and operations logs. In many situations instrumentation is installed to accumulate the readings.

In almost every situation the data is golden, and there are a number of people who need access to the data as quickly as possible to make decisions. In some situations an email with a wireless communicator is fine, but in many situations an email does not get the information reliably and securely to all the people who need it.

This is where MRL Integrated Solutions Ltd. (MRL) comes in. MRL was founded in December, 2003 in Calgary, Alberta with a focus to the oil and gas service industry. MRL specializes in providing data communications, access, and delivery services to the oil and gas service companies. The MRL founders have an intrinsic understanding of the service industry processes and also have the skill sets to deliver the best possible technical and commercial solutions for the communications and access to the data.

MRL provides their solutions as services. The result is the service company does not have to build and maintain their own solutions for communicating and accessing the data, and can focus on delivering the best possible service to their clients in the oil and gas companies.

The MRL business focus is quite simple. We are discrete and do not advertise our service company clients, or their applications. We meet with each client, listen to their needs, verify that we understand their processes, and then derive solutions specific to their needs.

 

Perhaps a metaphor for MRL is that we understand our service company clients are like people; we all share common charachteristics but at the same time we are all different. The MRL solutions all feature middlewares connecting to the MRL network but each overall solution has unique charachteristics.

The MRL applications are simple to operate by field personnel and the data is easy to access by the service company personnel and their clients.

When a service company client utilizes MRL applications, the presentation is provided by the service company with MRL quietly operating and supporting the solution in the background.

Prices for each solution are derived between MRL and each of its clients.

MRL developed two enabling technologies that provide the foundation for client applications.

The first technology is a site device often referred to as the middleware device. This device is programmed to read and collect data from most electronic devices. The middleware also communicates to the MRL network using most communication technologies; landline, cellular communicators, and a wide variety of satellite communication systems.

The second technology is the MRL network. Housed in a secure co-location facility, the MRL network hardware was integrated and then programmed by MRL to provide secure access to the client data. Within the network are websites for each client, tailored to the clients’ look and feel.

The MRL architecture is 100% owned by MRL. All of the code that is written to enable the middleware and the network is developed exclusively by MRL. The result of this approach is MRL has complete control of how to best design and support each application.
