In the service industry, there are strong requirements for keeping track of the fixed assets that are installed at the wellsite as part of the service. Examples include instruments such are surface and downhole gauges, lubricators, flanges, BOP's, and grease injectors. All of these assets are rated for certain pressures and H2S concentrations. It is important to keep track of when they were last certified and/or calibrated.
It is typical for oil company consultants on location to ask to see proof of certification or calibration before approving the installation of those assets on the well.
